About CFU
CFU works between formal educational requirements, knowledge about teaching and learning, and teachers’ professional expertise. The goal is always to support good teaching practice.
CFU – Centre for Teaching Resources
CFU support, complement, and develop high-quality teaching in Danish primary and lower secondary schools as well as upper secondary education.
CFU is part of the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science and is structurally anchored in Denmark’s six university colleges, with centres located across the country. The work of CFU is defined by national legislation and funded through an annual government grant.
CFU’s core task is centred around an extensive collection of teaching and learning resources available for loan to schools and upper secondary institutions throughout Denmark. Combined with pedagogical guidance, practice-oriented courses, and conferences, teachers can make use of the many services offered by their local CFU to enrich, diversify, and further develop their everyday teaching practice.
From requirements and knowledge to effective practice
CFU works closely with teacher education programmes, continuing professional development, and educational research. This collaboration strengthens the practice-based knowledge that underpins the work of CFU’s educational consultants. They advise teachers on teaching resources and how they can be used effectively in the classroom.
CFU also collaborates with publishers and other partners in the education sector. Together we organise subject fairs, large events, and many development projects with organisations such as the Danish Ministry of Education, DR (the Danish Broadcasting Corporation), foundations, and other partners.
Educational consultants with teaching experience
CFU’s educational consultants have in-depth knowledge of everyday school practice. Their professional backgrounds as teachers span the full range of school subjects as well as interdisciplinary themes.
With this broad expertise, strong local anchoring in school practice, and national collaboration across centres, CFU has a unique capacity to connect educational theory and didactics with real classroom practice — making a meaningful difference for teachers, their teaching, and most importantly for their students.
The CFU Denmark collaboration
The six CFU centres in Denmark work closely together in a national partnership. They share knowledge, coordinate their work, and aim to provide a consistent level of service across the country.
Centres in Southern Schleswig, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland are also close partners in this collaboration. CFU Denmark also manages cooperation with national partners, including publishers and AVU-medier, a CopyDan organisation.
